Joan Torres of All Is Fused Stirs Soul With New Single
by Jabari Kefele on December 19, 2016

In order to keep your musical palette fresh, it’s important to sojourn into genres that you usually wouldn’t venture into during your ordinary day. For me, it’s especially important to look for new and inspiring sounds outside the world of electronic music so that I can keep a well-rounded perspective. My favorite genre to dive into when I need a change of pace is definitely jazz. I am always inspired by the creative and improvisational elements of progressive jazz. The genre’s free-flowing and spontaneous style serves as a perfect representation of the human mind’s endless creativity.

One jazz artist who has really captured my attention is the San Francisco-based fusion artist, Joan Torres. This improvisational virtuoso has made quite a name for himself in the progressive jazz landscape. Joan has garnered quite a few accolades for himself including three nominations in the 12th and 14th Annual Independent Music Awards, in the categories of Best Fusion Song and Fusion Album. In 2014, Joan brought home the People’s Choice Award in the category of Fusion Album for The Beginning. Now Joan and his seven-piece jazz fusion group, Joan Torres’s All Is Fused, are grabbing headlines with their latest album Of The Musical.

After moving to San Francisco and sharing the stage with names such as Sandor Moss, Eduardo Corzo, Julius Melendez, and Calvin Keys, Torres started planning for the third All Is Fused album. During the month of June 2016, All Is Fused spent their time preparing for the recording of this album. They debuted the music on June 24 at The Center in San Francisco. They recorded this new album at the historic and influential Different Fur Studios in San Francisco between June 27 and 29. Grammy winner Dave Darlington mixed and mastered the album. Of the Musical was released November 21, 2016, and you can purchase it here at Bandcamp.
